PHHS biology students in Ms. Susan Seitz’s class have been exploring the water at the Parke-Vermillion County Humane Society located outside of Newport.

On Thursday, September 25, Sam Hart, a field inspector for the Office of Water Quality at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, visited the class to discuss the critical aspects of water quality management. He explained the origins of our water supply, emphasizing the importance of regular water inspections and proper storage to maintain safety standards. Hart also highlighted the rigorous processes involved in treating water to ensure it is safe for consumption, preventing any health risks associated with contaminated water. His insights underscored the vital role of water treatment in safeguarding public health, reinforcing the importance of his work in providing safe drinking water for communities.
