FALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION
Please read the information below and watch the video from PHHS athletic director Mr. Rich Schelsky, which provides schedules and guidlelines for fall athletic information.
Welcome back to PH Athletics! Below you will find guidelines that everyone must follow as we try to get back to somewhat normal procedures during this Pandemic. It is our hope as the PH Athletic Department that we provide all of our athletes and coaches the best experience possible while also maintaining the safest environment possible. We will try to get through all of this the best we can. Please be patient and understanding with some of the restrictions that have been set. They are put in place for the health and safety of our athletes and coaches. Our goal is to get back to as close to normal as possible during this different and unique time in our world.
Below are the conditioning schedules for July:
Boys Weights/Conditioning: M, T, W, Th 5:30-7:30 in PHHS weight room.
Girls Weights/Conditioning: M, T, W, Th 5:00-6:00 in PHMS (Parke Heritage Middle School) weight room.
Please contact your sport specific coach for your sport specific workout dates/times.
Below are the phases that the Indiana DOE and the IHSAA have set up for a return to high school athletics. I have met with all of our coaches about all of these guidelines and they are ready to go forward with the month of July as set forth by our two governing bodies and the NCP school corporation. We will all do our best to keep our athletes and coaches healthy and safe so that we can continue to move forward to the start of the school year and fall sports.
Phase 1 (July 6-July 19)
• All summer activities are voluntary. Coaches cannot make anything mandatory to attend.
• No locker rooms available. Athletes should come dressed and leave immediately after workouts.
• 15 hrs/week maximum on campus for each athlete.
• 2 days/week, 3 hour maximum per day for sport specific workouts, but cannot be on consecutive days.
• Conditioning/Weights can be 4 days/week with a 2 hour maximum.
• NO CONTACT ALLOWED (contact sport is defined as football and wrestling).
• SUNDAYS ARE OFF-LIMITS.
• Athletes are responsible to bring their own water/drink. May not use water fountain to fill bottles.
• No scrimmages/games vs. other schools allowed.
• Essential personnel only allowed at workouts. Essential personnel are coaches, athletes, and trainers.
Phase 2 (July 20-Aug. 14)
• All summer activities are voluntary. Coaches cannot make anything mandatory to attend until July 31 (girls golf official practice start date) and August 3 (official practice start date for all other fall sports).
• No restriction on number of days and hours spent by athlete or sport.
• 50% capacity use of locker rooms will begin on August 3. WE WILL NOT USE LOCKER ROOMS FOR ATHLETES UNTIL FIRST OFFICIAL DAY OF FALL PRACTICE ON AUGUST 3. Example: If you have 30 players on your team, 15 of them can be in the locker room at one time. You will need to send kids in and out of locker rooms in shifts.
• Athletes are still responsible to bring their own water/drink until August 3. Use of water fountain to fill bottles is prohibited. Water coolers provided by PHHS will be used once official fall practices start on August 3.
• No scrimmages/games vs. other schools allowed.
